In collaboration with the Department of Feminist Studies, we are co-hosting a year-long series of talks, workshops, classroom visits, meetings, and discussions with Dr. Angela Carter on academic ableism, disability justice, and feminist pedagogy in higher education. Discussions about academic ableism and disability pedagogy and praxis are crucial to higher education because they challenge the exclusionary practices, processes, and structures in education, making institutions more inclusive and equitable for all learners. Addressing these issues through disability praxis and pedagogy emphasizes the need for teaching, learning, and working strategies that accommodate varying abilities, fostering a more supportive and inclusive learning environment.
