The Center for Feminist Futures invites applications for the Summer 2026 Rupp Research Accelerator Fellowship. This fellowship allows an outstanding PhD student working on topics related to women, gender, and/or sexuality to focus on their research. The Center for Feminist Futures is grateful for this fellowship made possible by a generous donation from Professor Leila Rupp (FEMST), an internationally recognized feminist historian.

Topics and approaches:
PhD students from any department working on topics related to women, gender, and/or
sexuality are welcome to apply. The Center encourages intersectional and interdisciplinary
approaches to the study of women, gender, and/or sexuality.
Funding
Fellows receive $8000 in summer funding.
Requirements
The CFF Rupp fellow will complete a post-award report for the Center describing their summer
research progress due Fall 2026. Fellow will also create a video communicating their research
for a public audience to be used on the CFF website or social media.
Eligibility
- PhD students in any graduate program at UCSB are eligible to apply
- Students may not hold more than one fellowship at a time.
- Students should not be otherwise employed at UCSB or elsewhere during the fellowship
- To be eligible for this award students must be and remain a full-time registered student
for Spring quarter or on approved leave of absence. If on LOA in Spring, 4 registered
Summer quarter units are required.
Selection Criteria
- Centrality of the project to research on women, gender, and/or sexuality
- Project’s engagement with intersectional and/or interdisciplinary approaches to their
project including relevant attention to race, class, nation, disability, etc. - Quality of the scholarship
- Clarity of the project description
- Good academic standing

A. Project Title
B. 500 word description of your thesis/dissertation as a whole, providing context for your
project to the committee
C. 100 word abstract of your summer project
D. 750-1000 word description of the summer project proposed, including a timeline for the
work to be completed between June 22- September 12, 2026
E. CV, with the name of a faculty member highlighted who we can contact regarding your
application
